Yoga Bala Teacher Training Program

ASHTANGA VINYASA YOGA IMMERSION and TEACHER TRAINING 200 & 500 hour levels
This training will consist of 3 levels
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Immersion ( 100 hours)
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga level 1 ( 200 hours )
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga level 2 (300 hours ) for those who have previously earned their 200 teacher certificate.

All courses begin March 31st 10:00am-5:30pm every other Saturday.  Ending dates may vary.

Students must apply and be accepted to enter this training. Only 24 committed, serious, yet light hearted students will be accepted.  This training will be taught in the tradition of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga as taught by Shri K Patabbhi Jois.

I believe if one can TRULY embrace this tradition even for the length of this training Life changes will occur naturally. All it takes is the desire and the decision to say YES.

Yoga is my passion and Ashtanga yoga is in the center of my heart and soul. I do believe this practice can be for anyone if tradition is followed.

As Guruji would say, Ashtanga is for most anyone.  “The young can take practice, the old can take practice, the injured can take practice and even the sick can take practice. The only one who cannot take the practice are the lazy. Lazy people cannot take practice!”

I would like to express with all my heart how Ashtanga yoga changed my life. The tradition and the commitment to a challenging and disciplined  practice changed me at a cellular level.  I cannot TELL you, I can do my very best to show you, and let you experience such change on your own.

I personally believe all students should take a traditional training. I took several Teacher Trainings before I ever even contemplated being a teacher, I never planned on being a teacher but now I believe it is my Dharma.

If you just want to dive in, learn, and further you own practice this is the best way experience such a gift.   If you would like to teach Ashtanga, Vinyasa, or Hatha this training will give you a strong base for all. I do not wish to convince you that the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga is the only way but I do hope to show you that if even only committing to this 9 month period of time you WILL make life long changes in yourself. You WILL develop life long friendships, and you WILL knowingly or not knowingly change someone else’s life for the better. This is my commitment to you.

Om Shanti

Karrie

Students applying for teacher training

Students applying for this Teacher Training must commit to study, learn, and live the 8 limbed path.

Yama (disciplines) – as part of a committed and aware group of learners and teachers, we will practice the disciplines daily,  creating a healthy yoga community. Through non-violent behavior, truthfulness, non-stealing, non-hoarding and sexual moderation, we will support one another and move past our personal doubts.  To teach a yogic lifestyle one must live a yogic lifestyle, committing to the Yamas will begin our teacher training.

Niyama (observances) –cleanliness of body and purity of the mind, cultivated contentment, the giving up of our excessive desires, self-inquiry and surrender of the ego… the observances will thread throughout our time together as we seek the true yoga of liberation.

Asana (postures) – Reinforce the biomechanics and physiology of the Core poses, build upon the Ayurvedic principles of asana, explore advanced teaching methods, sequencing, and adjustments.  assess different body capacities and learn how to work with individuals.

Pranayama (breath expansion/control) – Learn intermediate pranayama practices, explore  pranayama techniques. Commit to a daily Pranayama practice.

Pratyahara (sense withdrawal) Learn how to withdraw the senses and quiet the mind. As we continue down the path from external to internal practices, our personal experience and continued practice  is necessary to pass these traditions on.

Dharana (concentration) – Explore a variety of concentration techniques through practice, study, self reflection and deep contemplation.

Dhyana (meditation) – Explore the physical and emotional effects of meditation and learn how to teach meditation to a wide variety of students.

Samadhi – Explore the Yoga Sutras scripture through chanting, study of commentaries and experiential practice. Focus on understanding the most subtle limb, superconscious trance.
