Yoga Bala Studio located in Port Orange FL has been catering to the needs of our community for 15 years. We are proud to introduce our Silver Fox healthy aging program. “As trendy yoga gets more popular, the teachers at Yoga Bala vow to stay strong in traditional yoga and continue to teach it as a healing tool.” Karrie’s focus is to teach yoga to those who need it the most. “Yoga truly is for everyone” she say’s.

The great thing with yoga is that it can be adapted to suit anyone’s needs. The aim is to work with your body rather than against it. Chair yoga is an effective and gentle way to improve your strength and flexibility in a way that can compliment your current medical interventions, therapies, and exercises.

WHAT CAN CHAIR YOGA DO FOR YOU?

1. Reduced stress and improved mental clarity

Chair yoga can lessen the impact of chronic illnesses and pain. Being calmer and more relaxed inevitably leads to a greater feeling of happiness and well-being, everyone can benefit from that!

2. Improved pain and stress management

Chair yoga classes will include breath work, which can help people not only with stress management but also for coping with and managing pain. Through meditation and paying attention to your breath, you can help your body and mind to cope with the pain of an illness or condition you may suffer with.

3. Improved flexibility and mobility

Chair yoga can help those with mobility issues to undertake activities that have become difficult to do, such as reaching down to tie shoe laces, pick things up, gardening, household chores.

4. Improved strength and better balance

Those who have a debilitating illness or have sustained an injury can gain strength back which has been lost. A stronger body can help one get back into daily activities and withstand difficult situation better to avoid fewer injuries.

Yoga is very helpful in teaching one to coordinate your movements accurately. This is particularly important for elderly people and can prevent falls. For people with disabilities or conditions such as MS and Parkinson’s, it may mean having greater control over your body and its movements.
